Ok, so we already know the following:

    1. Celebrity – Prestige/stature to your target market
    2. Authority: Having the power to influence others.
    3. Credibility: People can trust you
    4. Believability: People can believe what you’re saying.

The $1million (literally) quesiton is how to get the above 4 with one tool that:

    a. Gives you status
    b. Positions you as an expert
    c. Can be a great stealth marketing tool – if done correctly

Those who got it right will be mentioned in this thread and on my Facebook fan page linking back to this thread.

Just add your Facbeook profile or fan page below your answer.

    Hi Khalid,

Are we allowed to ask questions? Oop! That was a question … LOL

The only online ‘tool’ that covers all of those 4 points for me is Twitter. I guess some people will have their own favourite. Perhaps the answer is going to be subjective?

    Yep my answer is: Twitter

You can check up on that with my 687 hand picked followers :)

I’d say as well as providing clients with valuable information on platforms such as this, social media etc.
Creating an optin form to deliver to your customers valuable information that covers their fears, concerns, and is geared to help them solve a problem etc, in exchange for their details which you then have harvested.
Then you know your database is full of warm leads and phone numbers :)

I actually just wrote about this this morning weird

I’ll go out on a limb here and suggest that the “one tool” is not a physical tool in itself, but something we already have within ourselves. I’m guessing it’s to do with connecting with your target market, showing them that you understand their problem and that you can help…and that your help has value to them. And integrity is involved.

If I’m way off, be kind…I know very little about marketing 😮

    Wendy,

I always harp on about message, market and media when it comes to effective marketing.

What you’ve covered below is the message and market and extremely relevant.

What i am asking about is the media itself.

The funny thing is all of you know what it is.:)

You can achieve that type of status using one tool.
But there is more than just one tool that you can use to achieve that type of recognition.

    Examples:
    * (As Warren Cottis said) Write and publish a book on your area of expertise (and possibly promote it to ‘best seller’ status via Amazon)
    * Build a successful blog and become the ‘leading expert’ by publishing ‘valuable’ content, encouraging reader interaction and promoting it properly in the search engines
    * Create informative video‘s (instructional, educational, entertaining, etc.) and promote in search engines & via social media websites
    * Create free interactive webinars and address problems and/or concerns that you know people have related to your skills/industry
    * Build an email list by giving away free advice (that works) or free gifts and consistently focus on helping others to achieve their goals.

One of the latest trends for establishing social clout and establishing yourself as an authority is klout (klout.com)

Probably the best ‘stealth’ tool though, that meets with all of the above criteria would be:
    Positive ‘word of mouth referrals’.
or possibly word of type in this day and age.

People referring you to their friends, family and business contacts.

What if forum participants are not the target market as in my case?

I’ll dive back in and say Email. But that’s flawed because it doesn’t specifically cover:

    1. Celebrity – Prestige/stature to your target market
    2. Authority: Having the power to influence others.
    3. Credibility: People can trust you
    4. Believability: People can believe what you’re saying.

Personality could be the right answer, but you need to have the right one to make it work.

I’ll take $500K less GST if one of those answers is correct :)

    Cheers,
    Paul

I would have to go with blogging.

Although the use of “stealth” in the original post, being bold and underlined has me wondering if this is a ‘hint’ of some form… but even when focusing on this, I think that a blog still works and it is certainly a single tool (even when extending the exposure by ‘guest blogging’ etc) that ticks all the boxes.

    My Facebook Page is here.

I’m quite curious to know “the” answer to this one….

Perhaps a publicist so you can become a celebrity…

ok I think the media is yourself. Whether it’s face-to-face, phone, email, video, blogging, twitter, whatever !! it’s all about how you interact with your target market. If you don’t believe in your product or service, then no-one else will.
