Is running your own business over-rated, when most small businesses are not profitable ?! Its a never ending game of looking for the next dollar.

    Howdy

Curious on what your assumptions are based on? Sounds more like you may be assessing this based on your own experience, rather than a collective of experiences… IMO, some are profitable some are not…

If a small business isnt profitable, sometimes it could be that the assessment of its viability (or business plan) was not looked at truthfully.

    Cheers

    Can you define profitable?

Do you have figures to back your statement?

What do you mean by over rated?

Isnt that what any business is about? If there is no dollar, there is no business. oh and if there is no dollar there is no food on the table, but that applies to being employed as well, you no work, you no eat.

Yes, running your own business is overrated.

It is overrated by those who own a business (earn their living) telling/mentoring/coaching others that they should own their own business.

Otherwise, owning a business means different things to different people. Some can do it, some can’t. Some should, some shouldn’t.

Isnt that what any business is about? If there is no dollar, there is no business. oh and if there is no dollar there is no food on the table, but that applies to being employed as well, you no work, you no eat.

    Never a truer comment.

you can either work for a dollar providing someone else’s business or work for yourself providing your business. at the end of the day, you are never going to stop working because society is not built on non-productive members.

    Hi,

You are new here and I can’t see an introduction post from you, so I don’t see any context to your question.

Are you thinking of starting out, are you already in business etc.

Why have you asked this question?

Many of the members on this forum, go out of their way to help new comers and we spend a lot of time trying to help by answering questions, but vague questions are hard to answer, so maybe if you provided us with more information we can help.

That is any private business, not just small – and Bert nailed it with his response.
