    When I clicked on the forums just now, all but too updates threads were spam – all from the same person!

    My cynical side suspects it’s an advert against cowboy SEO companies.

    Hi Matt and John,

    Sorry about that! The wonderful Steve from Blue Penguin just texted to let me know and the spammer has been banished now.

    But anytime you do see anything like that, please just hit the Report or Flag as Spam buttons. Everyone here at FSHQ receives those reports and we will always jump on any issues as fast as we can.

    Our trusty filters are still chugging away in the background, but occasionally someone sneaks through and goes on a posting binge – luckily the big red ‘ban and banish’ button is sitting next to all of our desks in a cast iron combination-locked suit case for such events!!

    I can’t remember what the signup process for flyingsolo is, but do you have a captcha on the registration form to prevent these bots from registering?

    Hi Craig – yes, we zapped a few more on the weekend. Luckily they were reported quickly so they didn’t linger long. We did have captcha in the past, but don’t at the moment. We have IP restictions, keyword filters, post throttles and a few other anti-spam features, but the bots (and people) are always innovating!

    It’s a balance between making it easy enough for genuine people, without letting the others in. We’re actually redesigning the sign up process (and everything else) so we’ll address some more of this.
