The internet is the first place shoppers search when looking for a product or service. While word of mouth is still effective, it not even a blip on the radar compared to online. My internet is alive with free word of mouth. Try Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, G+, Blab, email, webinars, share ebooks, talk about courses. If all else fails, there’s a pretty good site for recommendations, getting to know people and their services, PMing people. Plying Soho I think it’s called. Internet leads are great, WOM leads are better. If you can’t close those it’s going to be VERY hard to close the cold ones ….
I think the following gets forgotten though, by people who’ve been around an industry for a while and have lots of WOM leads; when you’re just starting out, there are no Mouths to express Words about you!
So in the beginning you’ve got to get some traffic/leads from somewhere, and the internet is an awesome way to do that.
Just couldn’t resist chipping in to what I also suspect is a little bit of a troll post
