Hi all,
I’m trying to install a plugin (tried a couple of different ones) but keep getting the same error messages.
Warning: touch(): Unable to create file /home/embalmsk/public_html/home/embalmsk/public_html/wp-content/uploads/googleanalytics.tmp because No such file or directory in /home/embalmsk/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 164
Warning: unlink(/home/embalmsk/public_html/home/embalmsk/public_html/wp-content/uploads/googleanalytics.tmp): No such file or directory in /home/embalmsk/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 464
Download failed. Destination directory for file streaming does not exist or is not writable.Could someone please assist me?
Thanks in advance.
Warmest regards,

Just curious, what do the plugins do, that adding the GA code to your header wouldn’t offer.
Basically, what that message is saying is your permissions are incorrect for the module to install itself in that folder.
Recommendation to resolve this;
Use your cpanel or similar to browse the file system.. find the “uploads” folder and change it’s permissions to give everyone full read/write access.
Upload/install your module
then change the permissions back (Don’t leave them this way, it’s an excellent way to get hacked)August 12, 2015 at 11:08 pm #1186792Up::0Agree with Andy, unless you want fancy Google charts in yoru WP dashboard (which just chew up additional memory and database calls) then you may as well just get your GA code snippet and paste it in to your theme header.
OR: Usually themes have an option for pasting in additional JavaScript somewhere in the theme options. Just paste the snippet in there.
Pro Tip: That JavaScript entry box is also a great location to throw things like HotJar, LiveChat etc to easily install them.

That’s actually what I wanted to do originally (not sure where to copy the GA code though) and someone told me it was just as easy to install a plugin.
Could one of you help me adding the code to my website? I’ve had it previously but changed theme and updated my website and since then it’s not working anymore. I’m using WordPress and cPanel.

August 16, 2015 at 4:17 pm #1186795Up::0Just a quick comment for anyone else who finds themselves here. This isn’t a permissions issue technically, the plugin is trying to create a file in a specific location, but it has the location wrong. Whatever code is on line 164 of file.php is getting the website’s home directory wrong.
