Hi All,
As a long contributor to this forum, especially providing feedback on websites, I felt it was time to throw mine on the chopping block and see how others view my brand and website.
1. What needs reviewing? – Brand & Website / http://www.pixelrushstudio.com.au
– is the message clear about what services we offer
– does the brand suit the service offering
– does the website convey trust and authority
– Anything missing that you feel you would need to make a decision about choosing my business over another?
– Any visual bugs or turn offs?
– Anything other thoughts?2. What does your business do?
Online Marketing specialising in web design and SEO services.3. Who is your target market?
Small & medium sized enterprises4. What specific concerns do you have?
Originally when the business began I was offering graphic design services which are where both the pixel and studio parts of the name were formed. Purely specialising in online marketing now I’m not sure these aspects of the brand still fit.
Changing to PixelRush is an option or simply rebranding and better aligning the name with the services offered. In the future we may move into ppc advertising, social and other areas.

Up::0Hi Byron,
Good on you for asking for feedback.
I love the cleanness of your new design, but my personal preference would be for less black on the screen when arriving on the page (I’m finding the form on arrival a bit intimidating / in your face).
I think I’d also trust the site more if I found your faces on the home page, instead of (or as well as) on the About page.
Just my two cents worth, and please bear in mind that I am FAR from being a designer.
I hope that helps, and will look forward to reading others’ comments too.
Good luck!

All of the following is personal user “opinion” …
– is the message clear about what services we offer
Yes
– does the brand suit the service offering
Visually yes, personally not sure about the name.
– does the website convey trust and authority
It immediately conveys authority, the trust stuff follows on actually reading the content.
This one was hard to be impartial on, as I’ve read many of your posts here. They have always been considered, informed and respectful so I probably would have assumed the trustworthy stuff.
– Anything missing that you feel you would need to make a decision about choosing my business over another?
Probably not.
But being a slightly cynical old bastard many of these types of websites/businesses all seem the same to me on the surface.
– Any visual bugs or turn offs?
I always collapse the browser to see how sites “respond”. The red arrow graphic didn’t behave all that well at a couple of breakpoints (I found it distracting). Probably not an issue really.
– Anything other thoughts?
Your site ticks all the boxes for speed, design, usability and content.
How do you, or anyone else for that matter differentiate yourself from the competition online?
I’d be headed down the track of promoting/branding what part of your business offers the most growth and profit and shedding anything that didn’t.
My 2 cents.
Cheers
May 5, 2015 at 12:37 pm #1182472Up::0Hi Byron,
Overall, the website looks great.
On your /seo-services page consider adding some styling to your contact us form. This is your lead magnet, you need to make it pop. Add a bright background colour (your pink branding?) around that whole column with a call to action button which stands out. Otherwise consider re-arranging this page so that contact us section is fixed and scrolls with the page.
Also on the /seo-services page, I would like to see a case study or some link bait to a blog post of how you have improved a clients organic ranking e.g. pixelRUSH improved XXX’s website ranking by 1000%. Go into detail about what the problem was, and how you solved it.
Cheers,
CraigMay 5, 2015 at 10:31 pm #1182473Up::0Just my opinion, but when you go to a website, and the first thing that hits you in the face is sign up, or give me your web address, straight away looks like you are just out to get email or web address’s for Spamíng, I would give a bit of info about what you are offering than hit us for a web address.
Love paper romance on your portfolio page just comes up with a black box.
Q Drones website – scheduled maintenance. ?
Transcend support – website down?
I know both of those are beyond your control, but someone using your services are going to look at more than just the picture of a laptop with a website on it. And they were both not available yesterday either.May 5, 2015 at 11:01 pm #1182474Up::0bb1, post: 213019, member: 53375 wrote:Just my opinion, but when you go to a website, and the first thing that hits you in the face is sign up, or give me your web address, straight away looks like you are just out to get email or web address’s for Spamíng, I would give a bit of info about what you are offering than hit us for a web address.Love paper romance on your portfolio page just comes up with a black box.

Great feedback.
Thanks for the device and I agree with what you’re saying. Using the header to provide more impact and develop more trust before asking for an email address may be a good change.
Q Drones has been finished for months unfortunately client doesn’t want to launch it yet but it was one of the websites I felt really matched my business that I wanted to show it. Hopefully launched soon.
Love Paper Romance was missing a featured image, great pickup and thank you.
Transcend Support is up and haven’t received any emails to say it’s been down at all? Is this still a problem for you? Maybe i’ve got the URL wrong somewhere?
I’d like to expand on this portfolio area in the future with some greater information on the project and what the results were so thanks for your comments.
Cheers
Byron
May 5, 2015 at 11:21 pm #1182475Up::0Transcend is ok now, you may want to add links on the page to go there,
Q drone, I guess a potential client looking at a missing website on your portfolio would ask why, were they not happy, etc. I understand your reasoning, just coming back to the trust issue, if something is missing it leaves the question. the rest of your site portrays trust, but just a missing website which you are highlighting will raise a question. personally I would leave it off until they go live.

Thanks Craig, i agree with all that you’ve said. The styling of the contact form and case studies ehas been something on the list for a while so I’ll get onto that.
Thanks for the advice.May 6, 2015 at 12:24 pm #1182477Up::0Hi dude,
The free SEO report doesn’t work right.
If you put in a website without the http:// and let’s face it 99% of people would do that, the website scrolls down and then stops.
It’s only if you scroll back up you notice that there is an error.
Cheers,
Matt

Thanks Matthew,It’s just an SEO quote form at this point, i’m not doing the free report at this point as it tends to attract the wrong type of customer.
I did notice the URL field was too restrictive on the www vs http://www so I might change it to a standard field or do some other kind of regex for the field. The Error messages are also something that needs work in terms of styling so I completely agree on all of that.
All good advice, thanks Matthew.

No worriesJuly 6, 2015 at 7:47 pm #1182480Up::0Website is perfect, checked points regarding designing and online marketing, all points are covered. But post regularly on website blog to stay high in rankings by making internal linking strong.
August 11, 2015 at 9:27 am #1182481Up::0Hi there,
Not a fan of the phone number placement. If you are keen on keeping it there, maybe consider shrinking the font or increasing the padding.
The fact that your logo is emulating pixel graphics (which aren’t anti-aliased) but has been resized in the browser, makes it look blurry to me.
I also have a personal dislike of elements that shrink/resize/move as I scroll. Why can’t you let me scroll in peace?!
All in all, great site. 9/10
