Hi everyone. I’m helping out a friends business with her marketing, and I have noticed that their current domain name is to similar to many others in the same product category http://www.costumeshop.com.au. I’m going to make the suggestion that they change it slightly so that there is less confusion among visitors. Is it possible to have 2 domain names pointing to the one address? Simple question, but I’m just seeking confirmation before I suggest it. Thanks

Absolutely. I have 4 or 5 pointing to my main website and a couple of others to another website.

Yes, but make sure you keep one as the primary and setup the others with a 301 redirect. Otherwise, the rank of the initial domain will get dispersed amongst all the new ones.

This stuff can be done via your web hosting control panel. If you’ve got a friendly web host they may even do it for you ;)

I think the domain is the least of your worries.

A much more important problem, that needs immediate attention, is trying to actually HIRE something on that website. Im clicking all over the place just to try and figure it out.

    Far too hard.

In cPanel it can be done by going to “Redirects”. Once you’re in here you’ll want to select the domain you want to redirect and fill in the “redirects to” path to http://www.costumeshop.com.au. Be sure to leave the 301 Redirect type selected and the “Redirect with or without http://www.” tickbox selected.

    Cheers,

    Shaun

As other posters have replied you can implement a redirect to achieve this. If your registrar doesn’t offer cPanel you may need to do this via their domain manager console. Some registrars charge a fee to do redirection.
