    Hi Everyone,

Frequent lurker here. Would appreciate any community feedback on my site for my Copywriting / Freelance Writing services.

The site itself has been up for a little while (around 2-3 months). Its more a reference point for my clients, referrals, interested clients, etc.

    My Site: http://www.wordsout.com.au

    1. What needs reviewing? (i.e. logo, website, idea etc…)

Its a bit of a work in progress with the SEO, but the rest is complete and would like an overall impression on what you think, or any improvements on the look/ text, logo etc.

    2. What does your business do?

    Copywriting, Freelance Articles, Website content

    3. Who is your target market?

Businesses and Individuals, maybe a magazine or two that wants to check out my work.

    4. What specific concerns do you have?

That the samples provided aren’t enough or targetted.
That the logo text its a bit ‘plain’.

    That my site sucks :)

Thanks heaps for taking the time to look and review :)

Some of my first impressions would be:
    1. Make your logo bigger- it seems to be out of proportion to the area it is in
    2. The grey writing on white screen is a little difficult to read
    3. I would be tempted on the front page to have more of a written introduction rather than listing your qualifications.
    Hope that helps
    Cheers

    Hi Tim
“Sucks” is probably too strong, but it does need something….

Overall it doesn’t really feel like a website – it looks more like a brochure.

If you go and google “Freelance copywriter Sydney” you will see what your competition are doing. Obviously the top 4-5 organic listings would have it right. Perhaps you should show these top sites to a designer and try to get something similar, that reflects your own style.
Or if you are doing it yourself, go check out some top theme companies and buy one – a good theme will only cost you about $40, a very good investment. (Site Point, woo themes etc)

You also need the obligatory pages in your footer (sitemap, terms, privacy etc)

Also I would recommend you offer a “free report” about copy-writing and start building a database.

And yes you do need to do some keyword research.

    Hope this helps
    Cheers

    wow.

i think it needs borders to break up the white. truly epic whiteness.

    logo bigger please

the data discretion quote i feel isnt needed. its also so big, its the first thing i look at.

“get in contact” links to have html tags

potentially lose the WordsOut info bottom left (irrelevant)

youve got a funky business name and i was expecting some sort of byline with it included. ala, “wordsout that you need quality copy on your next sales brochure”

it needs a bit of personality i think.

    Hey Tim,

As other have said – It feels as though your front page should be an ‘about’ or ‘contact us’ page,,
It doesn’t entice me to explore your site any further.

I like the brand, its needs to be emphasised more. See if you can introduce some strong colour to bring focus on to your key selling points, ie. borders, background gradients.

And a key byline would really polish your brand.

Also – I realy like one of your banners, the middle word thingy – its cool.
