SteveThe Google certificate is in Adwords, not organic SEO.

Still, a basic question that even I knew!

DIY’ing your SEO isn’t as hard as you might think. Two big trends that are helping legitimate websites who create quality content

    1. Increase in the “long tail” – Everyone used to search short phrases eg “credit cards” now people are searching longer phrases eg “low interest rate credit card for single income family”. This means you might not be able to rank #1 for the competitive terms but you can easily get rankings for loads of lower competition terms driving just as much traffic.

    2. Google is becoming more human – Meaning all the link building and spam techniques work even less.

If you are DIYing focus on great content and let the SEO take care of itself. I ranked #1 for a competitive search term (1,000+ searches per month) with no link building tactics. Just quality content.

    It can be done
