Yes, a lot of publishers and brands have found that Facebook’s recent algorithm changes have significantly cut the reach of their posts almost overnight. These rule changes are definitely a good reason not to build your business with too much reliance on one platform.
This is exactly what I was going to say. The digital marketing folks I know (as in those who work specifically in the realm of paid digital marketing) have said it’s become so very, very difficult to achieve good results from FB advertising these days.
I think it can be awesome for user generated content, if you’re able to build a brand up to those levels, or for giving yourself a ‘presence’ if you don’t yet have a website (it’s better than nowt) but certainly wouldn’t rely on it as being the only face for your biz branding/marketing.
