    Hello!
I’d like your opinions on the best free program for quotes and invoicing!

I would also like it to quite flexible with the template design. Custom designs would be even better! I’ve heard there are some good online programs too.

    What do you recommend?

I recently moved over to http://www.waveaccounting.com/
It doesn’t do quotes how ever but can do minimal customisation for invoices based on 4 layouts

I was using Wave Accounting last year, but I didn’t like that “income” was counted as what had been invoiced, not what had been received. As far as I’m concerned, it’s not income until the money is in the bank!

I also looked at Freshbooks a while ago, but at the time it was $29.95p/month ($19.95 if you were in the US) and I wasn’t prepared to pay 50% extra for the same service just because I was in a different country. Perhaps they’ve since changed this.

I’m also not a fan of ongoing monthly fees.

This financial year I’ve started using Cashbook Complete which has a free version, a Lite version for a one-off payment of $60, or a full version for a one-off payment $120. I tried the free version for a short period and thought it was worth upgrading to the full version.

The templates are moderately customisable, but I like that I can also do bank reconciliations, BAS & GST (which it pre-fills for you) and offers quite a few customisable reports. For the price, I think it’s a great option.

    Hi salestastic,

Thanks for your post, although it’s not common practice that we allow international members on these forums, nor posts solely for the purposes of promotion. We will let this one slide, as it seems to be a reasonable resource, but please adhere to our forum guidelines in future.

Interestingly we’ve been using Cashbook Complete since 2001 and considering it was a one time payment with all upgrades free of charge, we could hardly be happier with it. We had a problem with it last week (caused by me not the software) and within a few minutes their support had sorted it out and even made sure it was the latest version running.
We did look at various subscription based systems at the time, but we’re so glad we settled on Cashbook.
