I’m RETIRED.
I work 4 hours a week, when I have to.
I have a Carpet Cleaning business, soon to be expanding to a suburb near you.
I suppose I do a bit of mentoring, on a couple of forums, and apart from that look after grandkids ( there are 4 I would willingly give away…any takers).January 30, 2010 at 5:54 am #1020934Up::0Bookkeeping business, or trying too. Up::0My heart is with http://www.goldcoastpets.com.au
I call it my 20+ year plan as it is a passion/love of mine to work with animals and have a business based on this passion/love.
I am contracted with http://www.qldmodels.com.au <--- Not Safe For Work, you've been warned. I alternate between gcpets and qldmodels as to which is my main income source. My other income sources can be found listed on my website ( http://www.zhetarn.com )

I also have an online store: http://www.liveitup.net.au (established in 2004).
Couple questions for you: do you do linking in your content, or just provide content? Did you do research or whatever on keywords and other essentials (in terms of writing for the web) or just learn on your own? And when you say you administer social media, could you explain that a little? Just curious!
Thanks.January 31, 2010 at 1:18 pm #1020939Up::0King, post: 25399 wrote:I have several:Online caricatures, drawn from photo – Caricature King

Hi King — I have the same question as I did for Wordmistress: do you just flat out write content or are you heavily engaged in making sure keywords are inserted, and you have links to other pages, etc? And in terms of doing effective web copywriting, how did you learn? I’m getting more requests for that kind of thing, so I’m looking for ways to improve and be effective.

Thanks.I look at long tail phrases, but I do not do any particular keyword research – just think like a human. I am a believer in links within text and good use of subheads.
I am self taught and once spent a month writing a website on biotechnology for a state government department.
One key element for me is writing so the page can be scan read. To me this is more important than angst over SEO. So this affects sentence structure etc.
REMEMBER, WE READ DIFFERENTLY ON SCREEN THAN WE DO ON PAPER!!!

Thanks.Argh! So sorry Lizzie, I didn’t even notice that you’d asked me a question in here. Ok, in answer to your questions:
I don’ just ‘flat out write content’ but I do write in a way that flows. I mean, I write as I would like to read and then I go back and insert keywords where they would fit naturally. Yes, I do research keywords and I do go back over the text to check for the most prominent keywords. I believe there’s a balance to be achieved between reader-friendliness and SEO. Both entities (the reader and the search engines) have to be satisfied with the content and neither can afford to be alienated.
As for how I learned to do copywriting, I’ve basically learned ‘on the job’. I’ve had my own retail website for five years and in that time have gained an education in keyword use, establishing and administering Google Adwords campaigns, writing with flair and using a voice that’s correct and appropriate for the kind of business involved. I’ve always been a bit of a Language Nazi (pardon the expression) so am very pedantic about spelling, grammar, typos and so on. I won’t say I’m perfect but I will say not much gets by me.
Hope that answers your questions and apologies again for not replying sooner.
