There’s a great trade fair called Kids In Style (held at same time as Life In Style) which is higher end and held once a year in Sydney (February) and also in Melbourne (July). Worth a look for trends etc even if not buying.

    Hi Bondy,

As it happens, we have an article on the homepage today regarding choosing Chinese suppliers. You might like to check it out: http://www.flyingsolo.com.au/startup/business-start-up/chinese-suppliers-do-your-due-diligence

    Good luck!

    Hi Bondy,
One of the best ways of finding the distributors of the products you are after is to google the names of the brands you want to stock. Their website should give you the name of the Australian distributor. If not just email them and ask them. They are usually very quick to respond.

Also the trade fairs are invaluable.
Kid in style, the Home and Giving fair, the Toy fair and the baby and toddler show are a few places to start. There is probably a trade association that deals specifically with baby products. They may have their member’s details on their website. Also check out the websites of kids in style and the Australian Toy Association.
There is a website called stock my shop that may be useful, and the Home and Giving Association has a website that lists many of its members and their products, many of which are in the baby and children product niche. You do need to sign up as a registered business, but it is free for retailers.

    Good luck with it all.

    Hi,

Not sure if you are still after suppliers but this is a web site that I used for another business of mine http://www.aussiewholesalesuppliers.com.au
They were able to give me a huge range of suppliers and it is updated regularly. I can’t recall what they charge.

    Regards
    Craig

    http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale/

Is one I believe may have what you’re after – take care and look around – we’ve done some start up eCommerce sites with a lot of interaction from wholesalers and some have been really good and on the mark whereas others can take time to respond to questions and have limits on stock levels etc. Best advice – narrow down your selection and then make a few random calls with questions – see how they rate on customer service BEFORE using them as a supplier, any wholesaler is going to quickly become an integral part of your business so check them out thoroughly first!

And all the best – hope it all works well for you

    HI Bondy,

Trade fairs are a great way to find a large number of wholesalers in one place. If you are in Melbourne or Sydney there is GHA or Fashion Exposed.
I run a childrens wholesale company called Mimpi Manis and once your up and running, please feel free to contact me for a look at our online product gallery, or alternatively I will be at both fairs in Sydney in Feb/March 2011.

    Cheers,

    Tabitha
