Wondering if anyone can help me.

I have set up a wordpress site for my client and they want to have a shop and use the epath payment system. I’ve not used E-path before and from my research it looks like I need WooCommerce to use this payment system. Is WooCommerce a plugin that I can just load into the site and then enable e-path payments? I’m a little confused…

WooCommerce is a plugin than uses Woo themes templates. Not sure how easy it is to insert into any other themes. If you have to ask it may be hard. Might be better to create a new site for them, or look at alternatives to using e-path.

You should just be able to install the the extension as per instructions on this page: http://wcdocs.woothemes.com/user-guide/e-path-australia-payment-gateway/

WooCommerce is a simple install too and just requires you to tweak a few themes (if you want) and you’re set.

e-Path is a hosted payment page so it should just work once these steps are followed.

I would recommend taking a full site backup and installing the site either on a separate testing server or on your local machine using xammp or something similiar.

That way you can play around with as many plugins as you like without fear of breaking the live site.

    Best of luck

    Able,

It might help to think of this in terms of layers:

WordPress is your bottom layer – this powers everything.
WooCommerce (your middle layer) plugs into WordPress and allows it to run a store.
The WooCommerce ePath extension (the top layer) plugs into WooCommerce and allows it to talk to ePath.

I’ve integrated WooCommerce with Woo themes and non-Woo themes and I’d say using a Woo theme is a bit easier, though I’ve found in any case I’ll need to do at least a bit of CSS restyling to make it look nice.

In terms of getting ePath to work, the Woo documentation is usually pretty good. There’s also the Woo support forums.

    Good luck!
    Peter.

Thank you all for your help. I will be working on this tomorrow and yes I already have a custom designed wordpress theme so I will need to use as opposed to starting from scratch.

We can certainly assist with this. Let me know if you need any help. We specialise in payment gateways. e-Path is just one of them. Mention Flying solo to get a 10% discount.
