This may not be the best place to ask this question – but here goes – if somone asks a question on my specialist topic – e.g. MYOB can I set up an alert, so I can jump on and try and answer it?

You might need to go here http://www.flyingsolo.com.au/forums/forum-technical-support/ to get that answer.

    Hi MYOB,
I’m not aware of an automated way to set this up. You can subscribe to specific threads by selecting that as an option when you post, but I’ve no doubt you’re already well on top of this one :)
If anyone else has any nifty ideas on this one please jump in.
    Cheers,

PS: This has been moved into the tech support forum.

OK – can I take it to another level, can I search comments in the forum? e.g. can I search for comments made on MYOB. I did try your search facility to the right, but it did not allow me to restrict it to just forum comments?

    Hi MYOB,

In addition to the main site search, which, as you point out, does not isolate forum search results, there is a search within forum function too.

Go to Today’s hot topics and you’ll see a ‘search this forum’ option in the top right. All the individual forums, e.g. starting out, working smarter, etc, have this option in the same spot.

To access today’s topics this from the main forum page, click on the blue ‘today’s hot topics’ header bar.

It’s a bit clunky, we know, but it’ll enable you to isolate your search to within the forum.

    Hope this helps!
