    Hello

I am a bit confused on what I need to do if I am considering working for a US company while here in Australia. What are my tax obligations and how do I go about it?

Can I get paid through PayPal? Do I need to set myself up as a business contractor and invoice them instead? I do want to be able to claim expenses working from home. I am very new to all this and want to make sure I understand my obligations before accepting this work..

    Thanks
    Heba

    Hi Heba

There is nothing to be worried about.

I work for people in the US too, it’s the same as working locally, invoice the client and get paid through Paypal.

    Hi Heba

If you are working for a US company here in Australia you could setup a company and invoice through that company but it really isnt necessary – just check your personal situation with an Australian Tax Agent.

If you need to log invoices with a USA company you can do it in Xero or Quickbooks Online with the invoicing linked to a payments service like Paypal or Stripe.

    Steve
