    would you use this service

Astute marketing wouldn’t ask this question. Astute marketing would be selling us the reasons why we ‘need’ this service.

That’s quite a resume, congrats. I’m sure you’re aware that even if there wasn’t a current market for these services (I’m sure there is) it would only be a matter of convincing punters that they need you and bingo, a market.

Forever competent marketers have been selling us products and services we could probably do without so if there is an legitimate requirement for these services, it should be a piece of cake.

    Go for it.

The only issue is that most small businesses don’t have much spare cash – I would be pitching to the big end of small business.

Going from real estate to generic small business marketing is quite a step tho – a real test of your abilities – should be a lot of fun ;)

Good comments so far. Keep in mind that as you progress with this new business, you’re list of ‘services’ (e.g. Help manage businesses, help develop marketing campaigns, etc) will most likely change a lot, and to manage this change and push it in the right direction I’d recommend interviewing business owners (or even just looking through the forums here) and see ‘exactly’ what business owners need help with – don’t make any assumptions, get the facts right from the source. Once you have a list of specific marketing/managing activities that business owners want help with, then you may even choose to refine your services to a certain area of marketing to make it more potent.

There are countless options here. All I’m saying is that your business will change, and to change it in the right way, you need to figure out exactly what services your target market needs. For example, don’t ask, “Would you use this service”, but instead ask “What service would be of most benefit to you”, get as much feedback as you can, and then the services (or activities) that have the highest demand is probably what you should aim at.

Hope that gets you thinking anyway :)

One of the first things you’ll need to do is to refine your product or service so that you are NOT trying to be ‘all things to all people.’ Become a specialist! smile.gif

Next, you need to understand that people purchase products or services for three basic reasons:
    • To satisfy basic needs.
    • To solve problems.
    • To make themselves feel good.

Here are some tips to help you define your target market:
    • Look at Your Current Customer Base
    • Analyze Your Product/Service
    • Choose Specific Demographics to Target
    • Customer feedback- Do Interviews on regular basis
    • Competition- Know who you’re up agains

Jess – Does Office 365 have an automatic sync function like the icloud is proposing or is it purely a cloud only solution?

Hi – I appreciate your enthusiasm and questions and also your successes. Well done!

However, if you do this, please employ the help of someone to correct all your spelling and grammar. This is very important as you are aiming for corporates and also helping people going for an interview. The misuse of words can mean something entirely different and this would be detrimental to your services.

Correct spelling is necessary in this case.
For the forum we understand what you mean, but to offer those particular professional services requires that one step further, as your customers will be looking to you for guidance on doing things correctly in order to help them win that job interview or project.

I have corrected some spelling below just to show you what I mean.

I would like to start a company called the Marketing Guru and would like to sell services would you ever use the following services
    1) help people with small business on how to manage their business, market their business and also budget
    2) develop marketing campaigns for small business
    3) offer lessons on how to sell or market your self via Skype
    4) want a job or going for an interview – we can help you tailor your resume to that job and also help people on how to prepare themselves for interviews
    5) also go see companies or schools or even have small meetings

Before I even plan any thoughts

Yes, Office 365 supports synchronising content to Outlook or via SharePoint Workspace – so you can access content offline. (I do it all the time!)
