How to get your local business visible on Google instantly

Search Engine Optimization is the process of customizing your website for a certain group of keywords or niche which allows your website to rank for said words on search engines. SEO can be done on almost any platform but since Google is the big one where people actually go to search for services and products.

Before we get into anything technical or how to get your local business visible online instantly we need to go back and explain what SEO is and for what businesses this method will work for. So let’s get stuck in!

Search Engine Optimization is the process of customizing your website for a certain group of keywords or niche which allows your website to rank for said words on search engines. SEO can be done on almost any platform but since Google is the big one where people actually go to search for services and products.

Now what I’m about to share with you and what got me ranking for “SEO Expert” for people in Adelaide, Australia.

As you can see there are three ad’s paying almost 15$ per click and the box below we in the SEO industry we call the “map pack”. This is the golden ticket Google has given to our local businesses, after all 99% of local business can’t compete with international juggernauts. So it’s only logical that they give the local guy a bit of an edge.

Are you interested in local SEO now?

I know you might be thinking without a website you won’t be able to accomplish anything. This is completely wrong if you’re a local mechanic what are the chances you will know how to build a website let alone rank it. Or have the budget to pay for a website being built and a SEO consultant or agency to do keyword research and rank for the most profitable keywords.

Now I’m not saying you will be able to rank for multiple keywords with this method but it’s a great way to get your local business on the map for your main keyword. As I mentioned above you don’t necessarily need a website. I mean hosting, domain registration and SSL can drain you quickly without accomplishing anything. So the guys at Google give you the option to make your own quick easy website when registering your business on GMB and it’s completely free!

This is an option if you really want a website but don’t have internet entrepreneur budget. But like I said there is no need if you’re looking to rank for one very specific keyword targeting your local community. A great example of this would be pet grooming its highly specialized and there is basically only one keyword to target “pet grooming”.

The magical method for getting your website to rank

This method will get you ranking #1 in two to four weeks and is as follows:

Step one: Go to https://business.google.com/create and create a listing with the following rule “Keyword – Brand or name” as the listing name.

Step two: Input your business address. But first make sure no other businesses are registered to your address so check Google Maps thoroughly.

Step three: Add in service locations you cover I mean all locations go suburb by suburb not just Alabama and think you have covered the whole of Alabama be specific.

Step four: Add your website URL or if you don’t need one click that option or if as I mentioned before click you want one to be created. You have three options pick the one that suits your business!

Step five: Verify and write the name of the person receiving the Google My Business Address. You will need the code being received to verify your Google listing.

Step six: Fill in upload as much information as you possibly can from phone number, description and photos. Write everything you possibly can the more information you input the easier to ranking will be.

Step seven: Wait one to two weeks for your verification code to arrive, once it’s here go to your listing and verify it. Presto you are done, just keep an eye to reply to reviews and keep your information up to date.

How do I find the right keyword for me?

Well there are a number of methods to get this done the easiest of which would be to hire this company this is my company and my name is John Bucalo. But if you want to be hands on and have your DIY hat on then the next option I recommend is Keywords Everywhere it’s a great plugin for Chrome or Firefox and it’s perfect for keyword research.  What every words you write in it shows you instantly what the search volume is, as an added bonus it shows recommendations next to the search results too.As you can see SEO does not have to be rocket science you just have to know where to start. At the end of the day Google is looking out for the local guy which is more that I can say for the average SEO unfortunately. Know you have the correct information from an actual Australian SEO expert. I know this might seem complicated but trust me it’s all about just following the steps and going that little bit further with the details.

Now if you absolutely have way too much competition and these basic tips just won’t cut it with the cut through market you are in. Then my next secret tip is citations before I elaborate any further you will need to at least create a basic Google website. Got it done? Okay good, citations these are listings on websites like yellow pages, true local and pure local. But make sure you always keep a consistent name, address and phone name is the name of the business you wrote on the Google map listing, phone and address.  Too make sure you get the full effect add in the URL of your Google, or regular website.

Finally, we come to the end of this search engine optimization knowledge explosion. Some of the things I want to emphasise more than anything is to be detailed when writing up your GMB, if you have to go down the citation route write a different description for each one done be lazy. And finally don’t go overboard the main problem I see these days is people going too hard too fast. It’s not a race it’s all about quality and relevancy after all you can’t expect to rank for plumbers Adelaide, if you’re not willing to invest some serious time!
