Trades people want to “get the job done” and won’t waste their time searching for a better option when their current solution works for them just fine. Make sure your language is simple and approachable across all platforms and really make the most of those loyal customers by getting referrals. Getting them to recommend your services through word of mouth could help too.

    Hi Sep,

To answer your question, yes SEO is important if you want your site to rank well on Google. Having great content and an optimised site will help you achieve this. If you choose to hire a web developer, make sure your copy is well-written and incorporates keywords seamlessly – this is easier said than done so I would suggest finding a copywriter (without being biased, I promise) even if it’s just for a proof read.

Looking good! Be wary of buttons that don’t lead anywhere though; you seem to have a few of them and that impacts your UX (especially on the drop down lists on your services page ). I also think your copy could use some neatening up :)

I agree with the above – make your messages really clear and neaten up your content. I noticed quite a few errors in your copy which makes your website difficult to read and understand. Having on-point content will make your audience take you seriously.

    Hey Leisa,

Do you know of a business you think is doing particularly well in this field? You could draw inspiration from them by typing their URL into an engine like SEM Rush and seeing what search terms they’re using. Make sure you select the right country as well.

    I hope this helps! :D

    Hey Christina!

Love the look and sound of your product. I think you could incorporate some h1s and h2s to better organise your pages for SEO purposes. Your homepage looks great with the revolving banner but I’d remove the products below it and add some text :) Make sure you code your pages correctly – it makes it easier to rank well on Google.

    Cheers!

    Hey Matt,

Your website is looking pretty spiffy – well done!
My advice: I think you should condense your homepage copy. Make it more succinct and talk about the most relevant points from most to least vital. Currently, there seems to be quite a lot to sort through. Showcase why you’re different from your competitors and make your call-to-action closer to the top of the page. I noticed you had three at the bottom, and they’re all the same – vary them up and give people options :) Also, ensure that your formatting is consistent. Half of your page is split across the width of the site and the other half isn’t.

Remember, your homepage is like a first date – the aim is to get your viewer to come back for more so you don’t need to go into great detail about your business straight away.

Give me a shout if you need :)

    Hi Helen,

The first thing I noticed was that your search bar cuts into your ‘Wedding Attire’ button. Secondly, I think you could add a contact button beside ‘Checkout’ above the red banner so that people can access this information easily. Lastly, your pages load a little slowly so I’d recommend increasing responsiveness :)

    I hope that helps!

    Hey Mike!

Congratulations on a beautiful site – it looks great! Here are my tips:

    – ‘Hang with your new homies’ is a great first line, but it can be difficult to read when the letters blend into the background. Consider putting transparent overlay between the image and the text (just like you’ve done in the tiles below)
    – Make sure your heading formatting is consistent. You’ve capitalised your other headings so I’d recommend the same for your opening line
    – Your copy is witty and funny! Add some more ‘you-language’ to appeal further to customers. Think about what benefits your customers will gain from your products. For example, when selling a pen you’re selling the ability to write, draw and express yourself, not just an ink-filled vessel.

If you have any questions, feel free to give me a shout :)

    Hi there!

I agree with many of the comments above; you have a lot of room to utilise some pretty handy keywords. The description for your homepage used them well but I noticed this wasn’t the same for the individual service pages.

Make sure you use the keywords that you’ve inserted in the backend of your site in your web copy (as smoothly as possible). This doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice the readability of your writing but at least allows Google to pick up on some relevant words.

Writing blogs is a brilliant idea but make sure your content is still interesting – quality content always wins because it’s more engaging. I noticed your resources page and am wondering if this is your blog page? If so, it can be a little confusing for your viewers to navigate to…

Lastly, have you considered using Google Analytics to track your site’s performance? At the very least you can gauge where people are dropping off and how engaging your site is.

    All of the best :D

    Hi there!

I really like the sound of your tea!

Because your tea isn’t a pharmaceutical, there’s no real need to have an accreditation by them. To write effective copy hone in on your main target market (there are many different types of tea drinkers out there – some are looking for ‘skinny tea’, others seek a natural alternative to coffee etc). Think about who these people are, what they search and then start to craft your copy. Make sure it’s interesting and incorporates keywords that suit the above audience. Additionally, writing blogs about tea, ingredients, health benefits etc is a great way to garner attention.

    Hi Laura!

I agree with many of the comments made above – good content needs to be interesting especially when it comes to rather dry topics. I’ve taken a look at your survey and I think it’s less about gauging which topics to discuss, but more about how to make them interesting and accessible. Don’t overcomplicate ideas and aim to make your discussions relatable.
Try to put a spin on management by talking about your own experiences and those of others. You can even leverage your authority by giving people advice on how to best manage particularly tricky situations. The live chat you mentioned could act as a great open forum to candidly talk about the unspoken.

All the best with your final year! I’m sure you’ll smash it!
