    Hi Jared,
Look forward to chatting with you more in the forum.
I just checked out your website and it looks great.
I am currently looking at a few marketing options myself at the moment.
I may flick you a message at some stage for some feedback and get your thoughts on a few things.

    Cheers

Thanks Mark you have pretty much confirmed my train of thought with your last post.
Our ultimate aim is to increase brand awareness as we believe that this is currently our biggest hitter for lost opportunity as people just simply do not know about us yet!
If we can increase that awareness as well as giving a little back to the local community I believe Sponsorship may be the way to go for us.

    Cheers

    Dan

    Thanks Mark,
    Interesting information.
How did you choose the sports and events you sponsor?
Do they have any relationship to your target demographics for your businesses or are they based more on your personal preference etc?

Yes, It is a valid point to you bring to the conversation.
It is not uncommon for businesses to become focused on other aspects of there business and forget about building and maintaining the relationship with there contractors.
Our business plan incorporates a 5 year prediction that includes the employment of a small group of staff.
Both my girlfriend and I already have ideas in place for training an procedures to ensure that our reputation is not tarnished with the same brush that many others are in our industry.
It would be interesting to get some more feedback from other people that interact with Property Managers to understand there perception.
Are there any landlords, tenants or contractors currently working for property managers in the forum that would like to build on our conversation?

    Hi Patrick,
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post.
Our business has been set up to provide Management Services for both commercial and residential (domestic) Properties, however as we are still working on becoming established in the local market majority of our focus has been on building or residential property rent roll and ensuring our processes services offered meet the needs of our residential property landlords.

We do have a small group of “approved” contractors – Electricians,Plumbers,Cleaners, Handy men that we utilize for property maintenance etc.
Our business has a strict criteria that we go through when first engaging our contractors that does include discussions and agreements on payment terms, insurance and relevant compliance etc.
Fingers crossed the relationships we have formed with these contractors appears to be working well and going stronger as our need to utilize there services and engage them in our business increases.

Funny you should ask about training of Property Managers, as I was only having this same discussion with my girlfriend yesterday evening.
To be employed as a Property Manager you must either be or be employed by a licensed real estate agent. However if a real estate agent wishes to employ a property manager there is no formal training requirement to become a property manager apart from the property manager being required to complete a certain amount of continuous professional development points (courses) each year – a standard requirement for working in the real estate industry.

It is my personal belief that the lack of compulsory training for property managers is one of the main causes of landlord dissatisfaction and perceived reputation issues for a majority or real estates and property management businesses.

I hope that all made sense.

Look forward to chatting with you further

    Thanks

    Dan

Yes i tend to agree with what you are both saying based on today.
However what I was more looking at is the value of it in say 12-24months when programs etc become more touch screen focused.
Do you believe that this will be the case?
Much the same as the smart phone trend if you get what I mean.

    Hi,
Yes I’m from Forster as well. I moved here about 9 years ago for work then Lauren came down two years after that.
Our situation is basically the reverse of yours until the business is established enough to support us both. I am currently working full time for a mining company whilst Lauren Manages the operation of the business.

I would be interested to know more about the plans you guys have for your business.
    What areas will you service?
What services are you going to provide?

What do you guys think of touch screen technology in lap tops?
Is it reliable? From the research I have done I have noted mix reviews. Some say its a must for windows 8 others refer to it as a nicety.
Do the Dell latitude range come with a touch screen option?
Do you believe it will become more of a prominent requirement in the coming years?

Thanks for all the Great info guys,
One thing i didn’t ask earlier on is what is an ISR? Is this simply an authorized distributor?
I do apologies if this seems like a silly question.

    Thanks

    Dan.
