Happy Friday everyone!
We have three vans in our service fleet that have never been monitored.
After taking over the business in August, it had become obvious it would be beneficial for many reasons why we should track the vehicles. Not because we don’t trust the drivers, but because we can see where each is at any time and see which would be…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
We sell motor vehicle batteries of all kinds via a mobile installation service. We just purchased this business from the owners of some 30-something years.
There is no inventory tracking in place.
We have a warehouse where ordered batteries are delivered and held, then our 3 installers will drive their vans to this warehouse where…[Read more]

An opportunity has been presented to us out of the blue with an associate selling his battery business. Mainly selling car batteries, they sell other types of batteries as well.
We are meeting with him this afternoon to learn more about the business but from an inside source we have been told it is a great business that has been run badly (older…[Read more]

30-something years of running a small business and I can honestly say it has only been in the last year or so I have realised I have done it all wrong in a big way and I also realise that perhaps I am not a business-person’s butt-cheek.
I hear some of you say: “well, you must have done something right if you are still here after 30-odd years!”…[Read more]

Thanks Suze,
Unfortunately the news is not good. $200 per round trip has been slated as being over the top for the service I provide.
I left the door open of they require my services in the future, thanking them for their business and their friendship.
Who knows? The unreliable/inconsistent Uber experience may be too much for them to bear over…[Read more]

Great words, Paul, thank you, I will definitely keep those at the ready.
It will be interesting to see what happens this week when (if) I am asked to take them out again.
After further information has come to light, I understand this gentleman has a habit of texting and emailing folk after a few too many ales each evening and getting himself…[Read more]

Thanks Paul,
I guess the most desirable outcome would be that our agreement would continue without the costs of my services being questioned.
In some ways I do blame myself because it was never made clear what his deposit would be broken into, but I have to ask myself “why now?”.
Without going into detail, this man is wildly wealthy. I highly…[Read more]

I should add to my post that I am not OBLIGED to carry these folk each week. There is no binding agreement as such. Each week the wife always asks me if I am able to take them out. If I am busy doing other work or have family commitments, I don’t have to do it, but I have made it a point to be available for them and I believe they appreciated…[Read more]

Long story short: before COVID I started doing Uber to fill the financial gaps. In that time, I learned there were many people willing to pay for a regular driver, especially business people wanting familiarity, trust and reliability, so I started my own passenger transport service, properly accredited and insured to carry paying passengers.
One…[Read more]

Firstly, I do not condone dishonesty or doing the wrong thing, but right now…take it from me:
If you have chronic health issues, NEVER outline them to an insurance rep. If you do, it pretty much stuffs your chance of affordable Life Insurance (if any at all) ever again.
Let them chase the info.
Blood pressure
Artery blockage

Thanks so much, Suze.
Yes, a very stressful time, indeed.
We have managed to refinance the house which has taken some pressure off and we struck a deal with the ATO until we can see our way clear of paying the tax bill in larger chunks.
At the moment we have a little relief, but I remain mindful that is only a bandaid fix.
Many thanks for your reply.

Keep an eye on http://www.appsumo.com
I am not affiliated in any way, but I do know they come up with some amazing software tools and courses as well, with “Lifetime” deals much cheaper than regular prices. I believe they may have quizz software on there at the moment. Quizzes4Leads comes to mind for US$49.
Let us know how you go.

One thing we have never been able to master is creating and building a buffer to pay our GST and Tax obligations.
I guess the simple answer is that we live beyond our means to a degree (and we don’t live lavishly, let me tell you!) which means we don’t ever seem to have a “bank” for tax debts or nasty little surprises.
COVID didn’t help with…[Read more]

I have a dilemma, but it’s a little complex to describe, so please bear with me.

Thanks Paul,
The Mentor is of reputable character and he some terrific case studies.
My issue is the cost when things are already very tight especially with COVID affecting what was already a pressured income stream. I believe it will work, but it may take three or more monthly payments of $1500 before we start to see results. That scares the…[Read more]

Hi there,
Our video production business has been carried along for years by a particular market.
Due to industry changes and the effects of covid, we are finding the business needs to redirect its energies into a different market.
The issue is, although we can produce quality video, we have no strategies, systems or processes in place to gain…[Read more]
