Hi chris .. portfolio site looks great and I see you have a presence on some of the graphic design specific sites like dribble and behance.
One thing you might want to do is look at building your overall presence and reputation online. Make sure you are listed where you should be and where your customers would look for you and make sure what they find is appealing and would make them take the next step to click through to your website or call.
Here is a list of over 150 websites relevant to your business:
Check you are listed on some of the better ones and make sure your listings are accurate, consistent and complete to help you rank better on local search.
Also … check for any ratings and reviews .. these are becoming more important to your business and getting a potential customer to investigate further.
All the best,

I am also watching to see what google do in the paid local ads area .. they are also going as far as building their own marketplace in some markets:
If they go fully pay to play then I would home something comes along to shake things up a bit .. it sounds like apple will be doing something big in this area so that might help.
I can also see the emergence of the virtual assistant crowd with Siri, google now, cortana and facebook m posing a big threat to their ads revenue as they mature as less and less people need to go to an archaic search engine and type their query and choose a result.
Could they be making a dash for cash while they still can?
Will be interesting to see how they plan to monetise this change with less and less UI and more tasks being handled purely by voice. Maybe their future revenue will be more about actions rather than impressions.June 10, 2015 at 1:49 am #1182228::
Hi Byron … I am also considering advertising in magazines like this but share the same concerns.
Did you go any further with this?June 10, 2015 at 1:29 am #1179692::
I would recommend focusing on your Local SEO in addition to your traditional SEO to help you get found when people search for “graphic designer sunshine coast” https://www.google.com.au/search?q=graphic designer sunshine coast or something more specific.June 10, 2015 at 1:14 am #1184279::
I always recommend at least a free listing on yellow pages for some of the reasons stated above:
1. lots of people still use the book and the online version.
2. If you are targeting the older demographic it is more worthwhile.
The other point is that you at least want your business to exist in the sensis network because they also supply an API to developers and if you business is not listed then you will be invisible in the apps that are using their API plus their data is supplied to many other services.
It can be a bit of a mess though as I notice a lot of my customers have more than one (or many) records on sensis and this can also be a problem so check to see if you are already on sensis before creating a new listing if possible.May 21, 2015 at 7:52 am #1183333::
Hi bert .. thanks .. that feedback is what I was after.
There is a help button in the top corner that explains each of the sortfilter buttons through a tour. Maybe I should make this more prominent or point it out?
In terms of what I am offering. The aim is to provide an actionable list (hence the add me button) of places where you can promote your business online (mostly for free). Hopefully you will find services you were not aware of that can hep you get business online or improve your local seo.
From your feedback I am wondering whether I need a big popup that explains the page when a new user visits for the first time?

Hi Ben … I agree with some of the earlier posters that you should look at your local SEO and make sure you are appearing in the 7 pack for any keywords that are related to graphic designers in your location.
This gets you on page 1 for free for very relevant keywords and your business will be more prominent in maps as well and you will gain more exposure and business in the process.
the basics of Local SEO (it is different to organic SEO) is to get quality citations across the internet where your businesses Name, Address, Phone number and more is mentioned but you also need to make sure all this is as consistent as possible and corresponds with what it says on your website. So a little but of thought about how you want the name of your business and other details displayed online is needed at the start.
You can find places to list your graphic design business here:
The sites more specific to graphic designers will be near the top. I would recommend showcasing your work andor listing your business at:
Behance (for digital design)
Dribbble (if appropriate)
and then a lot of the other generic sites .. and focus on local services as well that are just for the sunshine coast as I think these are increasingly important.
There is a link directly to the “add listing” page for most services.
We can help you manage the whole process at https://www.mypresences.com/ and you can signup for free forever to manage up to 20 presences.
Good luck with it … (I am on the sunshine coast often if you want to see more or need help with local seo).

One other advantage of getting listed on these sites is that it can help the Local SEO for local businesses which are found when people do searches with local intent … such as “plumber carindale” or “hair salon in paddington”.
One of the best Local SEO ranking factors is based on having a large number of citations (a reference online to the business usually in the form of Name, Address and Phone Number) that are as consistent as possible with the same details on your home page.
So it is worth having these citations for this reason but concentrate on the better quality ones first and remember to try to keep your NAP (Name, address, Phone) as consistent as possible.
A lot of these sites are free (to get a listing at least) and take very little time to setup so its worth spending some time on.
I have a free service on my site to help businesses find all the best places (websites and apps) to list their business at https://www.mypresences.com/services/ .. you can sort and filter by popularity and traffic ranks etc to decide which are best for your business.

Well done paul … I would also recommend focusing on local SEO to see if you can get your business into the local 7 pack in addition to the organic links.

hi petsit … its good that you have done the groundwork and covered a lot of bases hopefully they will start to pay off and are helping to build your brand locally.
How do you go when people enter a local intent search into google? Eg. pet sitting carindale, dog walking carindale for the areas you cover?
Are you appearing? Do you appear in the local 7 pack on the first page?
If not then I would look at bolstering your local SEO by building more and better local citations.
Getting into that 7 pack could make a big difference and it is free once you have laid the groundwork.

Hi Marc … are the hits coming from semalt.com in google analytics?
If so they are just an annoying botnet that crawls the net indexing information .. it is not malicious.
You can find out more here and apparently can enter your details to stop them crawling your site:
Hope that helps.November 8, 2014 at 11:37 pm #1174235::
Hi dean … just checked your profile on yellowpages:
Your website is using a .com.au address which does not appear to be registered so clicking the website goes nowhere.
and the profile has no address associated so no local searchers will find it … I had to broaden the scope to just the name to find it.
It is also fairly empty so people finding it may go elsewhere.
I think it would be definitely worth checking your online profiles for completeness and correctness.

Hi dean … If you are not too adverse to online I would suggest taking advantage of as many of the free internet services as you can to not only provide exposure but also increase the number of citations for your business.
This will help you rank better in local seo so when people search for “lawn mowing
” they are more liking to find you on the first page.
Make sure you use Name, Address and Phone Number are as consistent as possible on each page and that these details are on your homepage and you will start to rank better.
On the below page if you filter by Builder Trades (closest category to you at the moment) and choose Australia you will see 93 services you can list on.
Filter on Free SEO to find the ones that will give you a free follow backlink to help with SEO. Filter on Specific for some sites that will be specific to your type of business (servicecentral, serviceseeking, hipages, oneflare, houzz, tradecritic etc).
You can click through to see more information on each service and link directly to the add pages when possible.
disclaimer: this is my website.
Hope that helps and good luck with marketing your business. Also thanks for the stats on what is working for you .. I am looking to do some of these and found it very interesting.

Hi nathan … looks like you have had some great replies.
Early on you said you added your business to lots of local directories etc .. this is a good way to increase the number of citations for your business so that when people search on google for real estate agents in your area you are more likely to appear in the local section on the first page.
You also need to keep in mind that your business data needs to be consistent across all of these locations especially your name, address and phone number.
Please take a look at myPresences (https://www.mypresences.com) .. you can create a free account and we will help you ensure you have your business listed everywhere you can and also that your data is correct and consistent and complete everywhere.
All the best.October 22, 2014 at 12:16 am #1173265::
Hi Kim … on the homepage your social media links are relative to your home page so they all 404 … you need to specify an absolute address for each.
Site looks good though … I would be interested in adding lawcorner to our list of supported services at myPresences (https://www.mypresences.com) and listing you in our online services directory at https://www.mypresences.com/services/.
If you filter on LawyerLawFirm and Australia you will see the services we currently support for lawyers.
This means that any lawyers using our site will be made aware of lawcorner and we help them get listed on your site and create a presence there.
Let me know if you are interested and can get you listed.
