A good way to look at Rotary is just like any other business – money in and money out.
But we’re happy if the balance is just about zero.
The image of “it’s for older businessmen” is what the problem is.
Rotary will welcome anyone but of course if you’re in your 20s/30s and all around you are in their 50s/60s/70s then of course you won’t feel at home.
But Rotary is an excellent networking organisation.

Yep, clubs around the world are struggling with this – from our surveys so far it seems many people are open to joining Rotary but have no idea how to join or what’s involved once they join.

We’re also trying to fight the perception that Rotary is just for older businessmen – in fact its for young and old, male & female!

If any of you have ideas about what would make Rotary more appealing or relevant to YOU then please post here about it! We’re very serious about rejuvenating Roatary’s public perception & attracting vibrant & diverse members.

Rotary is an excelent networking organisation. I’ve been a member for almost 10 years and really enjoy the friendships, connections, projects and the general concept.
But you should not look at it from a purely business angle.
If you join it should be because you have a will to do some good in your community. It will no doubt give you an opportunity to network with many others.
Rotary is going through a period of membership decline. Check out a few Clubs before you join one. Visit them, go to the meetings a few times so you know what’s going on. Some Clubs are very “by the book” and some are less so. If you know someone in a Club who can introduce you even better.
Let us know what you decide to do.
I’m happy to answer any questions if you have any.

Ok, how did you join, what was the process like?

It will be interesting to see how the market evolves – it seems like there is anew deal site each month – and apparently groupon is yet to turn a sustainale profit as they have to spend all their revenue on ads & acquisitions of rivals just to keep their lead

    Doesn’t seem sustainable to me!

I always thought an infographic should be of benefit for the viewers, eg so that they understand the process or a product better. And not to improve the SEO.
And yes, there are professionals who specialise in infographics.

Well there are lots of uses for infographics and they can be great for both users and SEO, with some infographics attracting thousands and thousands of editorial, natural backlinks and social shares.

An infographic is only as good as the data you represent so you should invest the time in researching interesting data 9then you can get a graphic artist to design the visual aspects).

To be successful you have to also market it – that means contacting influential bloggers via phone & email, putting out press alerts/releases, getting it tweeted by influential power user & shared on facebook.

Also post it to social curation/bookmarking sites like reddit & stumbleupon – you can even buy some sponsored tweets & point some CPM & PPC ads at it.

Your outreach & chances of success can be made easier if you contact bloggers & social power users while you are still in the development stage & ask them for their input and if it is something they would be willing to post/promote – getting this pre-launch buy-in can make-or-break your campaign.

With infographics you really have to go big or go home. It takes just as much work to market/promote them as to make them. But if it goes viral then you’re in for some big rewards!

I know the company in question, I developed the pitch, and yes these walking talking brochures turn over 100 mil in revenue pa! Are they intelligent marketeers? No

The reason they don’t give info is they get 20 – 40 bucks a sale, and most people just say yes and order there milk bread etc, if your not willing to get an order on the spot HE WONT GET PAID! So why would he waste his time? Sure you would probably make a great customer as you are the target audience, but this guy really doesn’t care about the company in the same way an owner would. Obviously the level of training is not good in that particular team, but that falls on his managers head.

The team I built for this company made 10 mil in 8 months, from scratch, with just a car and myself, in a few weeks i had 200 – 300 sales coming in per night.

You people who complain about dodgey sales reps really annoy me, spend some time on the doors and give yourself an education.

These young salesmen will never be without work, name one business that doesn’t sell.

Anyway, I’m no longer with this company, and I really miss it :( yet to find another big venture, if anyone can help me earn half a mil after tax by december let me know.

I know the company too, and am not a fan – they use an unsustainable churn and burn approach and their pushy style of sales reflects rather badly on their clients

I don’t understand who would sign up to these door to door salespeople and I do not understand why someone would work for these shady companies

Love adwords. You can use it to test flyers, articles, posters, telemarketing scripts and anything else to quickly connect and engage with your audience.

One ad increased click thru rates by 450%. Imagine how much money is being left on the table by NOT testing ads, scripts, etc.

Which do you think and more importantly, why?

    244adwords.jpg

CTR is not a metric which measures success – there is only one metric that can tell you success and that is ROI. All that the 450% increase in click through means is that it cost you 450% more :)

Many people let metrics like cost per click, click through rate, and even conversion rate distract them. Why? Because they are either ignorant of how to measure their ROI or are too lazy.

we do reputation management (and we don’t really care if the negative press is true or not – there will always be haters). Its basically performing SEO to suppress negative listings and generally starts at about $3000 upwards and generally takes 2-8 months (no monthly costs etc)

    Hi,
Ive just started a new Vending Machine Forum for venidng operaters to come and talk about the vending industry and sell machines and equipment etc. and im looking for a few ways to get my site out there to other vendors.

So far ive posted an add on ebay and gumtree to promote the site a little to anyone that might search for vending machines on those sites. I’ve gotten a few more visitors but only a 2 new people signed up and no new posts.
I know I havent got very much content on there right now so thats most likely turning people away from joining and posting.

Another idea ive had is to have a short promo that encourages people to join by offering the first 10 people to join and post a vending machine, equipment or vending run for sale will get $5 for doing so.
Ill edit the adds on ebay and gumtree to promote and also add a new post on the forums to promote as well.
Does this sound like a good idea? Or just a waste of my money?

Does anyone else have a few ideas on how to get people to join and post?

    Thanks
    Chris
