Yeh, traffic volumes certainly make a difference as do the relationships you can build with affiliate networks. I have been on the forum you mention and try to go on when I remember to.

They require a competition permit unless you make them a game of skill. Therefore get them to answer a question, submit some time of response and you should be able to avoid the permits.

My site is built with WordPress as well. Although I simply purchased my domain from a local domain service and then the hosting provider that I use Hostgator has what they call a CPanel which gives you the ability to install WP on the server for the site. The first I did this I had no idea and someone showed me but after that I got the hang of it.

By having your own domain and WP on it the content is all yours and no one can take it away.

Talking to a friend of mine who is a cabinet maker in Melbourne and has been trying to build his site for about a year now. The last meeting he had with the web designer they dropped the SEO bomb on him and his confidence in what his site will deliver dropped big time.

We got talking one day and I told him what I did outside of normal work hours and when he heard that I had had some experience in SEO he got really excited and wanted to talk more and more.

So the interest is there but as with most things tech, small businesses don’t know where to start, they rely on someone else and in most cases will probably get ripped off or feel that way anyway once the site is launched and they get 5 visitors each week.

Develop partnerships with web designers and sell your services through them. A small business has some initial faith with these guys whilst the site is being built. That is your chance to sell your services as part of the total package.

I have tried link farms for some sites I build a while ago and they did help at the time but it was when they were first built. Since then I focus purely on content, some article writing and leaving comments on sites.

The more successful your sits get the less you are likely to risk it.

I like what you have done. Just need to work out where to place it when using WordPress Thesis theme.

Pictures and some more colour would work. I also think you need to write about things people are going to want to give an opinion in other than that’s a nice article. Review someone else’s pics or a photo exhibition, say something controversial. Also try and make your blog regular, so people keep coming back to it to read your opinion on this and that.

I really like your site too, however I found the colour of the text a little light (green text). Maybe it could be darker when I hover over it. Otherwise layout is nice.

If the links it creates when you stumble upon a site or mark it as a favourite are trackable by Google then they could also assist with SEO. Not sure if they are or not.

I use both Twitter and Facebook to push out my blog posts. I find Twitter is great for news and networking. Facebook is an interesting one, haven’t quite worked out this one yet but I think it has much more potential than both Twitter and the blog.

Great advice guys, will certainly read through your blog post and ensure I am doing what you suggest. I certainly use each of the plugins but my interaction with Google webmaster is probably lacking a bit.

I also found it quite distracting with all of these irrelevant words appearing which had nothing to do with what I was typing in. SEO industry is always changing and people who rely on google traffic will have to learn to work around these tools and their changes, or get smarter and brand better so that they aren’t totally reliant upon google for their livelihood.

Until recently I used a real gmail account to answer queries from users of my site, but following some thought I decided to change all that and now answer emails with [email protected] so it looks a lot more professional, particularly when I am exchanging information with corporates regarding advertising and other arrangements. I have simply linked that email address into Gmail.

I think I have solved it. Found a revision delete plugin and another one for controlling them that seems to have fixed it up.

    Thanks
