Hey @Zava Design, as mentioned in my post part of what I’d like to test and get feedback on is the frequency of the emails…so ideally need people to go through the series as it happens.

@JacquiPryor, thanks so much for taking the time to go through the sequence and provide feedback. I have now unsubscribed you from the list :)

Woohoo! And whatever is easiest for you, Jacqui. There is space in the survey for a good amount of feedback, but if it’s reams and reams then either:

a) reply to each individual email with feedback for that one. It’ll get sent to me
b) save it all up and after the survey if anything missed, send me your notes
c) happy to jump on a call with you at the end of the series to get additional feedback if that’s quicker and easier. Have done this with one other tester so happy to do again.

Let me know what works for you.

Hi @JacquiPryor, thank you so much for your kind words about my writing and having you volunteer to help with testing is massively appreciated.

I shall add you to my list now so you should start receiving the emails today. I’ll then remove you in 7 days time as soon as I’ve seen that last email has been sent.

Hope you have a tip-top Friday.

Yes, a lot of publishers and brands have found that Facebook’s recent algorithm changes have significantly cut the reach of their posts almost overnight. These rule changes are definitely a good reason not to build your business with too much reliance on one platform.

This is exactly what I was going to say. The digital marketing folks I know (as in those who work specifically in the realm of paid digital marketing) have said it’s become so very, very difficult to achieve good results from FB advertising these days.

I think it can be awesome for user generated content, if you’re able to build a brand up to those levels, or for giving yourself a ‘presence’ if you don’t yet have a website (it’s better than nowt) but certainly wouldn’t rely on it as being the only face for your biz branding/marketing.

Do you mean something similar to ‘Which?’

The Contender – Nah, doesn’t do it for me. It’s too scant on information. It doesn’t look appealing (not talking about your face – I mean overall page layout).

Like @Dave – FS Concierge said, add examples of your work. I’d also whack in more about your services and a short bit about your process – how do you get clients on board? – so you can start managing their expectations.

Testimonials, always a tip-top idea. Also, your USP is pretty cool. Is there some sort of visual thing you can put together to substantiate your claim? You know like those site loading speedo things? Standard WP site vs Mouse Built website.

OR you should talk more about HOW you achieve the world’s fastest to start substantiating your claim and therefore establishing more trust.

I have to accept your observation and tell you that you are spot on correct. I am not very keen to be on FB – but feel the need cause everyone else is using FB as a platform to their advantage. Lately, I have observed few successful businesses that are not on FB.

OK, pardon the very Brit way I’m about to say this, but here it is: boll**ks to what everyone else is doing. ;) You need to do what’s right for your brand and the customers your trying to attract.

When it comes to choosing which social media platforms your business should be using you should really be asking, “Where are MY potential clients hanging out?” Not so much, if my competitors are on here, that has to be the right thing to do.

I mean if your successful competitors are getting a good amount of traction with the same audience you’re trying to reach by being on FB, then sure. It’s probably a good idea to set up a page and invest some time in managing it to talk to your customers. But it would be a bad idea to do it for the sake of it, because you feel obliged.

You’ll resent it. You’ll neglect it. It will look naff and could actually do more harm than good.

Plus, if your clients are using Instagram, YouTube or Twitter instead, then being on FB will be useless anyways.

Mull it over a little more. There are companies out there who realise social ain’t right for them, like this UK pub chain. There was another really famous American food company who decided to call it quits on social, too. Can’t find which one it was now though. Was about a year ago. I’ll edit this post if it comes to me.

Email marketing still gives the best ROI, engagement and warm leads.

Good luck with it. Whichever direction you decide to take this in :)

@OnlineBizConsultant It kinda sounds a bit like you’re not too keen to be on FB. Even if you set up a FB page, are you going to be committed to keeping it updated? Or are you setting it up because you feel you HAVE to?

How are you? Sorry, I need to monitor that email address more often. I am just wondering how much you would charge to work on the copy in my website (descriptions of products) Not so worried about the About Us page at the minute. Just wanting to increase sales and if an improvement creates an more of an urgency to buy that would be wonderful. Have you worked on beauty related websites before, is this something you would be interested in?
Kind Regards

Hey Averil, I’m well thanks. Hope you are too?

If you don’t check that email address all that often, is there a better one to reach you on? Happy to send you my project rates and a couple of quick questions to help me better understand everything you need and price it up accordingly.

I haven’t worked on a beauty website before, but I did used to commission and edit the beauty section in a national magazine back in the UK. It’s been a few years since I’ve written for this industry, but confident I can hit the right note for your business and your audience.

Let me know best contact details for you. Or ping me a message on [email protected] when it suits you. Cheers!

I think it would be interesting, in the first instance, to find out how students feel about coffee pods.

My gut tells me this audience might have questions and concerns about environmental impact of coffee pod products. So would there be an ‘eco’ or recycle scheme you could link the business model to?

Just a thought. Good luck with it!

Howdy Hi @Averil Quinn, nice work on the site re-draft. Hope you’re enjoying the project :-)

From a copy POV:

1. Love your About Us story – it’s honest and genuine. But I would lead with how you enjoy helping and educating people about what they put on their skin. About pages are tricky, because even though they are supposed to be about you, really the reader wants to know what’s in it for them pretty early on. Would be more than happy to chat this through with you over email.

2. On your product descriptions, I quite like the bits in bold. It makes the copy easy to scan. I can pick out the important points quickly.

3. Move the ‘3 great reasons to shop with us’ messaging closer to the basket CTA. It’ll help remove a few more doubts earlier on.

4. Ditch ‘HURRY NOW!’ because it sounds like something a mum would say to a kid to shufty them along. And scrap putting copy in red. Feels a little too pushy. Instead, why not round off by repeating an add to basket button? Or softer phrasing, like: ‘To avoid disappointment, order now.’ Or Is there a postal deadline you could remind them of? Like ‘Order before 5pm so it’s posted out same day’. That might be a better way to create urgency.

5. Ditch the ‘unhappy with your products’ bit on the actual product page. They’ve possibly not even bought it yet and you’re sowing the seed they might not like it. Save that messaging for a dedicated Delivery & Returns page where you outline all that.

Hope this helps copy-wise! Feel free to holler should you fancy any further copy advice and we’ll see what we can work out :-)

Definitely a word-of-mouth grower. You could do a short press release and hit up bloggers. This could appeal to anyone who writes about mental health, all the way through to more general lifestyle.

Getting them blogging about it and reacting on social could be a good starting point to spread the word.
