Quick books does all this and has the wine tax built in. If you need it on the go there is now an online version which costs around $300 per year

The other thing to remember is customer equipment if you get a cheap ATA with a cheap chipset then you are in for trouble regardless of what speed internet you have.

If you stick to reputable brands like billion, cisco ,linksys and netcomm you will be ok

This isnt good but this is one of the reasons I don’t like mcafee it bloatware that’s why I switched along time ago to something with a smaller footprint that does just as good of a job

I was in the same place as you a little while back I ended up going with quick books easy start and have since upgraded to quick books accounting. It has all the features I need (invoicing, stock management, BAS ,GST etc) and it is really quick and easy to use and setup.

My current set up involves oscommerce which can be found Here it is really easy and has alot of plugins that can help.
The only draw back is the design is a bit bland but you can get different front ends to suit your purpose

    Hi ray_223

I recently went through the same thing in regards to income protection insurance and eventually got knocked back due to a pre existing illness and also because of the cost involved.

RACV offer income protection that excludes any preexisting illness. Their minimum level of cover ($400 a week I think) was 1200 per year.

As Melinda said it sounds a little suss so bring in an accountant. Also check to make sure there isn’t anything dodgy going on with trade marks or legal cases.

If the guy is making 2000 net profit before paying the employees

Assuming 40k a year for each + 10% ($880 pw) you would be losing money and this is before taxes and any running expenses

I know this is an over simplification but I hope it helps

No, I didn’t canvas. It didn’t take me long in my tech support business to get distracted by web design jobs. Which led me to where I am now with FrontBox Interactive.

That tactic is similar to something I read once, it was actually put in a sales letter and sent to neighboring businesses. But I don’t really feel that strongly about sales letters, if you’re already canvasing you might as well do it face to face.

Thats true Its just hard to get past the receptionist to the decision maker any advice on how to accomplish that ?

It seems getting past the receptionist is almost half the work

    Hi Brett,

Welcome to the forum. I’m also in the process of starting a new business and might be in need of your services as you’re in my neck of the woods. Initially I’m going to need some hardware/software setup advice for my bookkeeping business. Is this something you’d be interested in?

    Cheers,

That is an interesting marketing tactic I had not thought about did you use this ? and if so was it any successful ?

I Did a letter box drop of 2000 and as you said not very successful. So I don’t think I will be doing that again in a hurry.

I Have an ad words account set up I guess I will have to check it against your blog to see if I can optomize it
