How to start a specialised freelance writing business

What is the name of your business?

Business Sale Writer

Where can we find you online?

When did you start your small biz?

I started Business Sale Writer in January 2020

Why did you start it?

I move down the Brisbane with my twin brother in 2016 to take up a job opportunity in Business Brokering. I had no idea what a business broker was but after some research, I was destined to get to get some sort of job in the field.

I started as a trainee where my duties included administration and marketing. My trainee days were very fun as there was so much to learn about business brokering in general. I was 19 at the time so I took this opportunity with both hands and focused on doing a good job for my employer and my colleagues.

One year later, I finished my traineeship and positioned myself as a qualified business broker in Queensland.

I really enjoyed the work environment and the experience I was getting at such a young age was second to none.

In December 2019, I decided to part ways with the team and move back to North Queensland so I could be closer to family.

I have always maintained a strong relationship with my colleagues and clients who have helped me so much along the way.

I learned quickly that in the world of selling businesses, time is extremely valuable. I wanted to help both agents & small business owners when it comes to preparing businesses for sale and that is when I started my freelance business journey.

Who do you help and what are your services?

I service both business brokers and small business owners who are looking to get their listing or business ready for sale. The main services I provide include writing the Information Memorandum & business for sale advertisement. If you are interested to know more about these documents, check out my website where you can get an in-depth overview of each.

Is it the only biz of its kind in Australia?

No. But I would put this type of business as very specialised!

How do most of your clients find you?

Word of mouth and social media. My clients are based all over Australia as I am able to work remotely.

How do you like living back in North Queensland?

I live in Cairns where it is always nice and hot! There is so much to do here where you can find awesome unique cafés, bustling markets, and plenty of beaches nearby. It is definitely the place to be in the winter, that’s for sure!
