The Club Kidpreneur Foundation is the brainchild of one of Australia’s most successful serial entrepreneurs, Creel Price. Club Kidpreneur is a not-for-profit social enterprise working to develop entrepreneurial thinking in primary-aged children.
The Foundation’s goal is to assist kids in starting and growing their own micro-enterprises, giving them inspiration, business acumen and development support, in order that one-day they may choose entrepreneurship as a career.
Creel’s vision is to encourage the next generation to become simultaneously more entrepreneurial and socially conscious.
The $50 Challenge
One of Club Kidpreneur’s major initiatives is the annual $50 Challenge – a nationwide schools competition where students use a “Business in a Backpack” to build a business and raise funds for charity, their school or a worthy social cause.
Students work through the Foundation’s Ready-Set-Go business program (aligned with the Australian Curriculum for primary schools), using the learning resources provided in their Business in a Backpack. They create and design their own original business name, logo, product design and brand and learn to conduct market research, utilise a production line, merchandise their products and provide confident customer service. Each Backpack contains a starter kit of materials to produce a handmade product line for sale at a school event or local market day.
The goal of the $50 Challenge is to inspire kids to see how the power of business can be used to have a positive impact on the world and empower and equip them to do so.
How you can get involved
Club Kidpreneur invites the Flying Solo community to help spread the word to their local schools about the $50 Challenge.
In 2013 over 2,500 students from 170 schools across Australia raised over $100,000 for social causes in the $50 Challenge. This year 4,000 – 5,000 students from 350 schools are forecasted to participate in the term 3 competition.
Kidpreneurs can also participate independently of their school by having a parent register them for the program.
Flying Solo is very pleased to be supporting the Club Kidpreneur Foundation in its mission to inspire kids to power the world through entrepreneurial endeavor and social enterprise.
